Handweaving
60x12 inches
2023
Observations on External Characters, M. Portman and W. Molesworth, 1894, accessed at The British Library, King’s Cross are prints and photographs taken during the time of British colonisation of India. For the purpose of anthropometry, all native bodies were studied against against a 2x2 inch Lamprey’s checkered grid. Through the process of handweaving, an intimate study was conducted, employing haptic agencies to question the positionality of exploitation of racialised bodies between the photographic gaze and its (in)visible touch.
